Default Ported TB

Considering adding a ported TB to my current mods. If only adding the throttle body, do you typically tune (or re-tune in my case)?

Depends, is the TB the choke point in the turbulence, or is the intake manifold the turbulence choke point instead?

If you have a OEM LS-2 intake manifold, that it's the nightmare in the math of why the motor can not breath at higher RPM's, until its Turbulence problems are resolved, then little will a ported TB resolve in the grander scheme of things.

Also, are you running open loop, or close loop?

If you use the same size TB, most of the CNC ported throttle bodies do not require a retune. Depending on how aggressive the hand ported throttle bodies are you may need to adjust the idle airflow tables a bit. At the end of the day I had more problems with my hand ported TB throwing codes. My CNC unit although less aggressive has been fine requiring no additional tuning.

I have a fast 102.

I am looking at one of the vmax cnc ported units.

I gather you have a tune for the fast 102. you may be ok with the ported tb. I also have the 102 and ported tb but I have a tune.

If you currently have a tune, I would ask your tuner. A reputable tuner will give you straight up advice and not look to make extra $$. I have heard from most tuners (in person or on the forum) that it is not needed. Also, if you do have a reputable tuner, they may retune for a small cost if needed.

I will add that I do have a ported TB and have not gotten a tune because of it. The TB will increase your throttle response which will mostly be seen on the track.

I added a vmax cnc ported throttle body to my already tuned LS3 and it runs great.
I didn't get it re-tuned after the install.
