I am having a problem removing the Shift **** on my 05-C6 Vette.
I have read posts and seen videos of how to do this however, they
all refer to a ring below the **** that must be twisted from 12 to 1:00.
What I seem to have is a plastic shaft to looks like it slips over a metal
shifter rod and the boot slips into a groove in the plastic shaft at the bottom of the Shift ****. I have slid the boot down the plastic shaft but can't twist the plastic shaft by hand or with pliers. Don't want to break anything at this point. Any ideas ???
That's a nice write up with the pictures. The part where he takes out the 2 bolts at the rear of the console under the plastic caps is unnecessary though. Also not needed to do anything with the shifter boot on the A4. It's separate from the console and stays where it is when the console comes off.
