Default How do these plugs look?

How do these plugs look to you experts? My thought was bad but I don't know how to read plugs so need some input from you guys. Car is 07 with full bolt ons, LG headers, fast intake and vararam with tune. Plugs have been in since spring of 11, with 20 to 25k on them.

This is my first time posting from my phone and have never uploaded pics from it....hopefully you guys can see them.

Yup I put another set of TR6's in I had laying around that only have maybe 5k on them.

I was just wondering if they look like the tune needs adjusting if its lean, rich or anything like that.

Thanks

I would just get a wideband if you want to know if its rich or lean, unless you want to kick it old school and make a WOT pull then pull over and start pulling spark plugs.

It is hard to "read" a plug when it is brand new, or has a lot of miles on it.

To do it correctly they need to have at least one full 'session' so to speak on them to burn any of the coatings off, after that you need to be able to do a clean cut with the car. That is a WOT blast and then key off at close to peak TQ/HP as you can, then pull the plug.

This might give you a good idea of what to look for, but it takes more than just looking at the top of the plug. You need to see down inside at the base to see what deposits and colors are going on down there too.

Wow, didn't know all this, thanks for the info and the pic.

I'm not really worried about it now that everyone that has replied didn't lead with something like...."omg get ur motor looked at" or anything along those lines.

I think they just needed to be replaced more than anything, which I have done now.

Iv never had any problems with the engine and it's got damn near 60k on it with most of the miles being modded and tuned...
Thanks again!

Second plug is running lean. The burnt ceramic insulation is a dead giveaway. Possibly a partially clogged injector. Since all do not look that way you can rule out an overheating motor. May want to get a magnifying glass and examine plug for shiney particles. This would be a sign of detonation. The combustion process needs fuel, not enough gasoline and the next source of fuel will be your pistons.

Ok, thanks

IIRC that was cylinder number 7 to.....

The first tune I had in it , which accounted for 3/4 of the miles put on thoes plugs was tunned at like 13.0 to 13.2 afr. As soon as I realized that I imediatly took it to a different tunner and he knocked it back to mid to low 12s afr.

When I get around to it Ill put the wideband on it and get an accurate picture.

Ill look at the plugs more closely when I have time now that I know a little bit more of what to look for.

Thanks for the response.
