Default C7 brakes on a C6?

Anybody look into this? I assume with the change of spindle, the bolt spacing is different. Search didn't help much.

I heard the guys talking about this on a recent podcast episode of The Smoking Tire. They were saying c7 suspension pieces will bolt straight onto a c6 which means you can install the c7 brakes so long as you swap out the spindles, as you said. I've tried doing my own research as well but haven't come across anything yet either.

Has anyone explored this?

The first question should be to ask what you expect to gain that better pads won't produce.

Ditto, and although the C7 caliper are now made by Brembo that makes better caliper in general, they are OEM models for GM on the C7, and a far cry from the companies racing type caliper instead.

So on that note, if you want better calipers, then get a set of racing calipers and rotors from Brembo for the C6 instead.

Brake mounting points are different so the brakes do not transfer over, at least not without some sort of bracket, which I don't know if there is room for.

The spindles might transfer over but the C7 uses a completely different wheel speed sensor setup than what the C5/6 cars do, also the rear tie rod linkage is completely different. I don't know about upper and lower arm mounting locations if that would transfer over but doing a spindle swap would not be easy to do.

I'll use our drop spindles to show the difference as I don't have stock ones pictured on my computer.

C5/6

...and after what Lou (I think that was Lou, sorry if it wasn't), why would you go to that expense when it would be clearly more cost effective to get a set of Brembo's or AP Racing specifically designed for the C-6.

Hey, it's Chris from TST

Now that the Fiesta build is done I'm going to be tackling the C6 project in early January.

Seats and brakes will be first on the list, I'll chime in with further details as it gets further along.

Says it all right there. With all the excellent factory options available for upgrade (Z51, Z06/GS, and ZR1 brakes) as well as the aftermarket options with years of development, the expense and effort involved in swapping over C7 parts over doesn't seem to be worth it, especially given that the C7 doesn't represent any kind of monumental leap in braking technology or performance. Plus the parts are going to be spendy, since at this point there isn't a large supply of used/wrecked C7 parts on hand. Unless you like the challenge of fitting square pegs in round holes, move on.
