Just installed a small catch can on the car for giggles. Car is a '05 wih an LS2. It has a set of long tubes and a air raid intake on it. The amount of oil you see in the picture is after 15 mins of idle time in the driveway and a 60 mile trip. It looks to be about 1.5 tbsp. car has 67k on it btw. this can't be normal can it?!

That is a lot. Do you let the engine decelerate at high RPM's (and thus very high vacuum) a lot?
That isn't a proper catch can BTW, it's a moisture collector for a compressor. That stone is going to clog very soon (it's made to condense water from air) and your pcv system will thus be clogged and you don't want that.
I strongly suggest you get a real catch can. I've recently learned about serious R&D work that Colorado Speed is doing on cans, I suggest you get one from them.
Check out this thread. You might also see if you can get Cspeed2 to chime in on your thread, once you see his credentials.

Thanks for the Advice Joe_G. I do let the engine de accelerate as long as the rpms arnt excessive. Even if the was an ideal setup it looks like I'm going to need something with more capacity!
Never used one before, and not sure what they are used for. I'm sure I need one, cuz they look cool. Anyone?
THIS and fact that the fumes are now directed back into the engine. Those fumes contain oil that the engine burns. Doing this the valves and top of piston get coated in carbon. This hurts performance/engine and a reason to have a can.
I have a thread about catch the catch can on my Grand Sports LS3. It has kind of been an evolving thing/work in progress. I have finally, after some great feedback (especially from Dano523) have it functioning the way it's supposed to & I can empty a few oz out of it every couple weeks. I hope this thread gives you some ideas if you decide to change/alter your set-up.
