Default Dropping Cradle Using Ramps

Can the engine cradle be lowered while the car is on ramps?

Sure, if you use a 2 post lift to pick up the body from the sides.

I'll try to be a bit more helpful... look at RPMextra's thread here. Picture 14 shows how the cradle comes off...it is similar to the rear cradle too as shown therein.

If you need any help or tips post up, folks will help. What are you trying to do?

The lower A-arm connects to the cradle, so you can't remove the cradle without disconnecting the lower A-arm. Disconnect that and you won't be rolling far..

I'm going to be pinning my crank in preparation for a Procharger.

Support the car with jack stands on the frame rails..

Loosen the 4 nuts holding the front cradle in place and remove the two nuts on the bottom of the engine mounts (easily accessible from under the car)

Use a pry bar or whatever to lower the front cradle as much as you can without removing the nuts.

Use a jack with a piece of wood or something on it to raise the engine as high as it will go

Voila--you now have enough room to get to the balancer to both remove the bolt and pin the crank. No rack removal needed.

Check out the magna charger instructions. Starting at step 59..
