They do break or delaminate so it isn't something to take lightly. If it was mine I would certainly replace it ASAP. But, are you sure it's a crack in the spring? Can you post a couple pics? Might be something not so terrible.

That looks like something hit it and caused a little damage, doesn't look like a typical crack, my opinion only.
I suggest you not worry about it but keep a close eye on it, like check once a month or more often if you can. If it doesn't change over the next 6 months I think you are okay.
But that is the general area where they typically fail.

I have one in like new condition out of a 2011 grand sport 21k miles replaced with coil over shocks along with factory shock absorbers available as well if you feel uncomfortable and want to change them lmk.
