Default Pulling Steering Wheel Position Sensor

I have a question about pulley the steering wheel position sensor to negate active handling. Does this effect the brake bias any or ABS? After pulling the position sensor I have been locking up my front brakes at the track while trying to shut down. thanks.

I'm guessing at this point, your front brakes lock because you have *no* ABS.

To my recollection, the ABS uses the steering wheel position sensor in conjunction with the yaw sensor (and of course wheel speed sensors) to control ABS functions.

If you simply unplugged the steering wheel position sensor, it's seen as a system fault, and the car will shut down ABS as well as AH.

Thats what I figured. I'm going to get tpms put in my tires in the morning. I put my stock set of wheels back on and all seems fine.

there is a huge thread about this in the autocross section. The plug was pulled from the steering sensor, this shut off the AH but kept the ABS

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-defeated.html

I did this when I took the car out this season. Drove it hard did some drifts, donuts and drove in the rain last night with no issues. Active handling never interferred car drove just as it would with holding the button for 10 seconds. The traction control still works and can be turned on and off. I did not try to lock up my brakes, for obvious reasons but the track guys are saying the ABS is still active

I've read that thread. However, I made one pass in the car and flat spotted the tires at the end because the wheels just locked up the instant I went hard on the brakes. I'm trying to narrow down the series of event to fix the issue whether it is tpms related or wheel diameter related. My fronts are 25.8 and rears 27.5" the tune is set for a 26.7 inch rear tire but I have all my shifting and what not set up for that to be correct.

I'm thinking it does effect abs but not to the extent the auto cross guys are noticing especially since I'm on a 15x3.5 front wheel with drag brakes trying to stop at 150 to 0.

Mine is unplugged and my abs does kick on when my tires are still cold.

Have you ever locked the brakes before you unplugged it while on standard size tires?

No I have not. The tires I'm on are 26 inch tall in the front and 28 inch tall in the back. Maybe that has something to do with it????

I put the stockers back on and it seems to stop fine. ABS states ACTIVE and the car stops in an appropriate fashion. However, I have not been able to achieve the 120+mph shutdown either on public streets but from 80mph it seems to perform as expected.

Those drag wheels must be the issue causing the sensor to read faster or slower than what the computer thinks???

Maybe. I just need the car to stop. I'm going to fix all of the issues and put 28s all around to see what happens. Plus the 28 will give a bit more power over the brake. Its hard to believe that others haven't had these issues I'm sure there are plenty 26, 28 staggered drag set ups.
