Haven't heard anything of the sort. Ls2 and Ls3 are dead to nuts reliable mechanically. Stronger well beyond its rated horsepower ....good for 600hp 500 ft pds of torque all day long. Also known for excellent oil pressure. It's one of the best GM small blocks ever in my opinion.

Gto and tbss had a front oil pickup, this could cause oil starvation and connecting rod bearing failure.

I personally witness this same problem with the SS Blazer with the LS2 and the front oil pan sump. Can not let the oil get below a quart or two and run it up hard. Drag racers would have to add a extra quart of oil to combat the poor design front sump.
In the vette there doesn't seem to be a issue with spinning rod bearings, that I have heard of reading posts here, due to a design flaw.

Front sump design or not. . . . . .I wouldn't run my vette a quart or two low either. That's 20 to 40% less oil than it calls for. Sounds like the other crowd isn't as diligent with checking the oil level. Now if the engines are spinning rods due to a mechanical design flaw, we would know about it already. If I had such an engine, I would run it 1/2 to a quart more than what it calls for. Thanks for the information however..
