So I just received a call from the service manager at the Dodge dealer, the car is now up at a Chevy dealer. The owner instructed the Chevy service manager to replace engine and any and all parts needed to include what you guys said, cooler, lines, clutch, anything. 2 year 50.000 mile warranty. I searched last night for a replacement C6 grand sport of any year and 90% were automatics, a lot of them were $40k plus. I could find 06, 07 Z06's but I don't want a Z06 or even a ZR1. I don't need carbon brakes or a targa top that won't remove. This car truly is our needle in a huge hay stack. We don't have a large budget for cars, other wise I would order a C7 grand sport. I love all you guys and I value you your opinions. I know a majority of you will say I'm foolish and I accept that. I am emotionally attached to this car so I will deal with it. I'm also a seasoned veteran heavy truck/equipment mechanic with experience on cars also. I was going to make ramps to get under the car anyway so if problems arise, I'll take care of them. I'll be getting a drive on lift one day also when we get our shop so I can do anything needed for the car.
It's going to need a clutch or brakes someday so I need to be prepared anyway.
I'll keep you informed.
Also I have a call in to Pete at Legendary Motor Cars as I highly value his opinion on devalue and if I should make sure the bar code bolt goes into the new crate engine. I assume you guys know how that bolt works.
Thanks again.
Congrats man ! Imo you made the right decision and the dealer is standing up for you, that says a lot for him, great customer service and good advertising. As far as decreasing value, i don t hold anything in that because sounds like you will retain this beauty for a long time, so that doesn t play a part. And the best part is GM dealer doing the work and replacing anything that needs it, and you didn t have to "fight" with the selling ddeale and bad mouth him like many like to do.
Congrats again. Enjoy the ride !
I totally forgot and can't believe I did to tell you all that the Chevrolet service manager told us that the new hand built LS3 will be serialized to the car. So know kind of negates that issue. I also received a email from Peter Klutt of Legendary Motor Cars and he said he didn't think it would be an issue at this time either. So I'm happy and absolutely can not wait to get it back.
Thank you everyone.
Rjhctrapp...what a great attitude. Corvettes are very special cars but, in the end, just cars.
I'm just south in Tacoma so maybe we'll pass and wave someday.

I happen to think a crate motor with a 50K warranty is better than the engine that was in there. I'd buy that car for sure!
Actions speak louder than words (re: dealers' promises). I think you're making a big mistake...there are too many Vettes...you're making it sound like you found the last 6-speed Vette known to exist.
But hey, in the end it's your decision. Just remember, the value WILL be hurt by this and it WILL be on the car's history report.
Lol, my kids will be the ones dealing with the value issue. My wife and I are keeping this beautiful piece of machinery for all of our lives. We are going to have the top off and cruising it every chance we get. I was planning on washing it after the PDI and all the new mitts and soap is still in the bag in the car. Never got the chance.
I think we are going to pop for the translucent targa top also. I see someone on here is selling one and I'm pressuring the wife. Then tires. Good For A Years got to go. Has the original run flats on it still. 4/32 left on them. That's how pampered this car is.
if it is hot out there, i don t know about the translucent top, i am in Ontario, i bought a lid last year and sold it 2 months later. too hot for me, sun beams in and toasts me, you may like it, i m not one to say, just my 2 pennies.
and like i mentioned earlier, value depreciation is all bunk. there is always someone on these forums that has to be negative and turn things around because it doesn t suit them.
to each their own. i think you made the right choice. but, what do i know and who am i.

I'll keep that in mind and let the wife know also. I appreciate everyone's opinion and I know there are ones that feel I made a mistake, like I said, I accept it. Hopefully I don't have to tell them they were right. I hope the tech is as thorough as I would be. Not sure how many vettes he's engine swapped but I have faith in him, even if he doesn't. Lol

Your attitude is refreshing. A crate engine installed by a dealer is awesome. And, this dealer will never forget you so you will become a special client from now on. Good for you and good for the dealership for owning up to their error. Don't let they negative guys here get to you. You will have a great car in a few days and many years of fun.
This is the day I stumbled on to it. I had driven in the far entrance and not seen it, I had to use the restroom since after my cancer surgery, when I have to go, I HAVE TO GO! Lol
I walked around the end of the challengers and saw this beauty sitting there. I was excited but was thinking it was an automatic since all the ones I've seen locally seem to be. SURPRISE! 6 speed manual! I sat in it and it sucked me in. The seat gave me a big ole hug and I was hooked.
