Same here, my friend. I am one of those who truly wouldn't trade my 2013 C6 GS, "even up" (aside from the obvious resale value) for a C7 !!

I was also one of those who mentioned to "run away from from your car" early on - I hope, fervently, that I was wrong !!

The very best of luck with that "black beauty;" Lord knows, your due for a little, having gone through ALL of this.

Cheers and God bless !!

Nice to see this all worked out for you. Beautiful car. Sounds like you are making up for the lost time. We all know what you are feeling and I think most will agree that the thrill does not go away. I still feel like a kid every time I push that green button. Congratulations on your new Corvette!

Sun came out so the top came off so I could hear that Corsa music! Oh what tune they play. Stopped and visited the 2012 centennial edition Z06 and drove it. So sad, today marks its one year of sitting on Roy Robinsons lot. $59,818 is what they have it marked at. 9,xxx miles. Totally loaded. Mag ride and all. Beautiful lonely car. So if you know anyone looking for a stellar beautiful C6 Z06, please, let's try to find this thing a loving home!
If and only if you could have a C-6 Z06 with auto I would have a hard time not looking to trade up, I don't "yank", haven't for years and aint gonna start now. I would have a Z06, but I'm pretty happy with my GS

I have 1000 miles on it as of today. We had one slight hic up with codes P0171 and P0174 for lean conditions on both banks. I was able to find a vacumn leak on the bottom of the master cylinder to brake booster. Took it to Dwayne lanes and Rich took it right in and replaced the oring in about 15 minutes. I cleared the code with my scan tool and drove to work. Been flawless ever since.
Like I said before, even the best techs have hic ups now and again. I haven't gone above 4 grand yet. I go in this Thursday for the oil change, then I can stretch her out. The weather was awesome here this weekend and the wife and I pretty much lived in the vette all three days I had off.
I'm pretty sure we are both hooked on C6's. We found a Chevy dealer that has a 2010 ZR1, 2012 centennial edition Grand Sport with manual transmission, 2011 Z06 and we want to start a hoard.

I've been telling her about the awesome ZR1 and showing her pictures but until she got to see one in person, she didn't get it, she totally gets it now. It's cyber grey and immaculate. I'm pretty sure if I said, let's go get it, she'd totally be with me on it. Start our own C6 hoard. Lol

Sounds to me like you came out of this better than you were before. The dealership didn't try to replace it with a used LS3, didn't try to do it themselves, didn't try to only replace the engine. They owned up to a mistake that likely cost them more than any profit made on selling the Corvette to you, and did it right.

Keep all the paperwork and documentation of this in a three ring binder if you are worried that someone may question it down the road. This won't hurt your value because it was done right, and if anything would make the vehicle more appealing to me because it has a daisy fresh engine.

Try out as many systems as possible on the test ride, a tremendous amount of things need to be disassembled to replace an engine in any modern car - let alone a C6 - and even with the best techs around - it's relatively easy to overlook things....

The bottom line is that this is a $10K + job. If you look at the cost of a regular LS3 Crate engine, and the cost for 20 plus hours of labor - you're at about the $10K mark. If you add in all the misc. parts that are going to be changed out as well - the original dealer whose tech screwed up the oil change is losing a lot of money. While he's telling you that he'll pay to have everything done right - you don't know what he's telling the Chevy dealership about what he'll write the check for. Even if the Chevy dealership is going him a favor and giving him a lower labor rate than the public would pay - it's still a whole lot of $$$, and the truth is that much of this work will have to be done by one of the most experienced (read that as most expensive) techs in the service dept. My point here is that whenever there is that much money involved is behooves you to keep your "spidey sense" turned up... Be aware of things that don't seem right.... If possible visually verify that the parts that were supposed to be replaced are in fact new. But ... and this is the important part - if there are problems - they can be corrected. You just want to position yourself to be in the best possible position to have them corrected to your satisfaction.

In all honesty - you already did exactly what I would have suggested - after you had a bit of time to digest what happened - you went out and looked to see if there were other similar cars out there. You didn't find much - so you decided that this car was worth sticking with. You say you plan to keep it for a long while - so the engine replacement that will show up on the "Car-Fax" and it's potential to turn away future buyers isn't all that important to you. OK !!! You did your research, you weighed the alternatives and you made an informed decision !!!

If you have kept up with the news on the C7's - it seems that Chevy failed to properly clear chips after one of the oil passage / oil filter machining operations, and several hundred C7 motors expired (including one that a National Car Mag was testing) as a result. Every one of those new C7 owners got essentially what you're getting here - a new engine (but in the C7 case - I'm sure that the factory authorized only the bare minimum of replacement parts be changed out). At least you had the opportunity to decide if you wanted to stay in the deal - the C7 owners got no choices at all !

I really hope everything works out at least as well as you are hoping for !!!

GOOD LUCK with her and ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!!!!
None of those C7's left the factory. It was a really bid deal because GM scrapped all the cars and all of the Corvette used parts guys were trying to get their hands on them. You will see allot of C7 parts in Carlisle this year.
On the crate engine, everyone we have used has been flawless. You get a new engine in your car, just drive it and enjoy it.

I just finished reading this whole ordeal. You definitely have more patience than I. I would have walked myself. Seems like it all turned out great.

Great looking car as well!

Rjhctrapp, any updates on the replacement engine ? i am sure all is well.
i think you did the right thing by replacing engine rather than car. took you a long time to pick the car you wanted, the selling dealer stepped up on this one.

So my understanding is they place the order for the engine, GM performance hand builds the engine, serializes to my vin, ships out. So I'll receive a signed LS3 by the builder just like the engine previous to it. What I'm surprised at is the 3/100k warranty. Pretty crazy.
"Flat rate only gives him 24 hours to r&r. But I'd rather the tech take his time and not hurry just so he can be thorough. " The tech loses money if he takes longer than book time to finish the job. Beating the clock while still maintaining quality is how a good tech makes a great living. It's not in his best interest to "take his time"

Glad it all worked out for you.

All is absolutely awesome. Thank you for checking in. I drive it as much as I can. It's like it never happened. Yesterday we went for a road trip to Renton. Good Chevrolet had an arsenal of corvettes and camaros. We went to look at the 2015 Z/28 they have. Such a beast. Any excuse to get our vette on the road.
Just remember, if your in need of a dodge or a Chevy, Dwayne Lanes Chevrolet and also has a Dodge dealership in south Everett.
Rairdons dodge in smokey point and Kirkland. Two of our most stand up great dealers here in WA state. Both will take care of you.
I'm am very grateful to both entities for putting my dream car back in my driveway.
Thank you to all of you in this forum for taking me in and making me feel at home and welcome. Doesn't matter if your C7,C6 or any C, corvette people are excellent company to have.

I know and I agree. I'm a heavy tuck tech and we never had to work flat rate, but a good warranty clerk and service manager can find time to cover his azz. For example, replacing the oil reservoir and oil cooler and lines. Rairdons didn't question the bill and wrote the check, no questions asked. Rich was able to take his time and I even had him drive it back and fourth to work a couple days before I took possession of it. I did that so he could make sure it was sorted and ready for delivery. I know he appreciated it and so did I. He put 160 miles on it in two days and I was more than grateful. I really couldn't think of a better person to take it on its maiden voyage. Being a tech myself, I know I'd appreciate customers like myself.
