Put my c4 zr1 wheels on with 325/45r17 racemasters and all of a sudden anytime I hit the brakes the ABS turns on and the gauge cluster says "ABS active". This is with traction control on and off. Does anyone else know why this is happening? I know the tire setup isn't that uncommon.
Outside diameter of front vs. rear has to be a certain ratio for ABS to not freak out. Sounds like you're right at or a little over the limit.. like SDPC said

The traction system wants to see a certain ratio between the front and rear tires. You can look at the Tire Rack site and they show the spec "revs per mile". Use the ratio for your stock tires and then try to get very close to that ratio for any change that you make.
According to Tire Rack, the F:R stagger on the M6-equipped GS with OEM tires is 818/782 rev/mi = 1.046. The tires specs show a new tread depth of 8/32, so if you calculate the delta between a new tire and a worn tire with the minimum 2/32 depth, the allowable variance between front and rear stagger is a bit over 4%. Therefore, you should be able to safely run a F:R stagger ratio of between 1.026 and 1.066 without the SC nannies intervening. Don't take this as absolute gospel, nor am I claiming to be a GM engineer....just trying to help.
