Not a very common issue, but here is one I found for the purge valve solenoid on the front of the passenger side valve cover:

any chance it may correct itself over a bit of time and driving ?
from what i can find, it is not going to hurt it to drive a bit.
how does one define if it is the Solenoid on the engine, or the vent under the rear, that is the culprit ?

DTC Descriptor
DTC P0496: Evaporative Emission System Flow During Non-Purge
Circuit/System Testing
Start the engine.
Seal the EVAP system using the Purge/Seal function with a scan tool.
Observe the FTP sensor with a scan tool. The Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor parameter should be less than 1.7 volts after 90 seconds.
⇒ If the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor parameter is greater than the specified range, replace the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.
Repair,

And its a cheap enough part, so just replace it if you still have problems after popping the connectors off to clean and re-attach them and the problem does not go away!!!!!
Its the valve that the Orange connector is plugged into.
As for getting to it, remove the oil filler cap, pull straight up on the fuel rail cover to remove it from the motor, and it right there at the front of the valve cover. When you put the fuel rail cover back on, put some dielectric grease on the rubber grommets on it bottom, and it will make installing and remove the fuel rail cover again much easier.

No worries, but do clean the connectors and reconnect them with testing to just weed these out at the problem isntead. Hence the solenoid may be fine, and some how you have a bad connection, ground or cracked wire instead.

Now that I replace the one on the engine is it safe to say I replace the one in the back under the fender that it will be good to go? I don't know of any other options right now ?

Stealership says could be the canister or could be the vent in the back, vent is $23 and the bloody harness is $42. crazy, i need to talk to the shop wizard before i replace anything else needlessly.

dirt cheap
For peanuts change the $23. rear vent .most don't need the harness replaced

The dealer told me that when you replace vent the harness doesn't hook up to it I need the replacement harness adapter harness. Just what i was told. 23 bucks is nothing. The BS 4" harness adaptor tho. GM has to make money somehow.

just an update, took it in to the dealer he did some more tests, and is nothing to do with vent or solenoid really, says there is a constant ground, and makes it pull too much vacuum, and tricks the ecm, so either a wire melted somewhere or something in the ecm that the tuner missed in Janurary, but i can t see that, because it is only happening now, and been driving it, so must be a wire, he is going to spend a bit of time on it to see what he can find out.
