Lets say cost isn't a factor and I dont want a supercharger or a turbo. Besides a new exhaust, headers, cam, and a tune what are some other things I could do to improve the performance? It is an automatic with the z51 package. I want to get it in the upper 10s for the 1/4 mile without sacrificing the reliability of the car as it is my daily driver.

Port/ polish heads
Cold air intake

LS2 or LS3?
When you say "Besides a new exhaust, headers, cam, and a tune..." are you saying this because you don't want them or because you already have them?
If you don't want a S/C or Turbo, I'm assuming you also don't want nitrous.
There have been a few members who have put bolt on base into the 10s but it's a lot of track time to dial in your setup. If you already have headers and a cam, a good stall and a set of gears can get you there. Have your tuner match your stall to your cam and hopefully he can keep driveabilty in check.
what do you have against supercharging the car? I've had mine back for about a month now... I did a ECT kit, headers and new clutch. The car sounds like a jet engine, its amazing. its putting down 610 to the wheels.
I ran 11.6 @129 mph on stock tires. I was spinning most of the track. the car rides and feels the exact same as it did before, until you put your foot down.

Welcome to the forum and your first post. Questions are better answered if you put more info in your profile, so people know a bit more about you and your car.
10's are not easy with a stock cam. Only 3 LS2 and 3 LS3 base cars are on the performance list (see stickies above) with just boltons. You can compare that with 13 LS2's and 15 LS3's on the internals list.
Just looking at the list and the mods will give you a good idea of what it takes for 10's. By no means does that assure 10's, but it's at least a point of reference.
If you live in Denver (profile info ?), the chances of 10's are a lot less than if you live in NJ. The same applies to LS2 or LS3 (profile again), since they require different mods to get similar results.
As far as reliability is concerned when you go internal, it relates to how well you do the maintenance it requires and how hard you drive it. Don't expect a high lift cam engine to last 200K miles and weekly trips to the drags with just oil changes.
Someone's been watching too many fast and furious movies.
10 second car AND daily driver reliable? Number one mod is a genie lamp.
Someone's been stuck in the past ^^^ (prior to 1980 probably).
My LS3 bolton has been very reliable, since I ran my first of many 10 second 1/4's over 5 years and 60K miles ago. It's a DD with over 132K now. I just got back from a 435 mile 3-day road trip to Las Vegas and got 27.2 mpg on the way up and 28.9 on the return while averaging 67 mph.
