i didnt check them when iinstalled them really. im gna guess around 8k something like that .car has prob 15 ish track passes on it with dr tires maybe less just gessing. i tend to slip the clutch around 5k to start on the track depending on if the track is good. i really only run the track to test and check the cars mph i have it on the street the most .but the place we race at is just as good as the track lol
I feel your pain. I will be sure to check all of the listed items in the thread. Mile lasted 3 miles with new clutch and slave. To late, I put a new slave in with out checking it a second time. I just though it was a bad slave or I didn't get all the air out.
Are you running a McLeod too? I really don't understand why almost everyone of the threads like this are their clutches..
Mantic 9000 twin. No shim.
They have been great to deal with and tech supprt. I'm sure it is/was an issue on my end. Time will tell. It still doesn't feel 100% right. Pedal sticks a little at the floor. I haven't had much drive time. Maybe 10 miles.
now you don't have to tell us. But I want you to get really honest with YOURSELF. I am not trying to make fun of you, so you do not have to tell us! but are you one of those people that ALWAYS have your toe on the cultch pedal? do not want to argue that your really not touching so on so forth. just get honest with yourself, The problems that you and others are having points directly to someone who rides the clutch. it's just that simple also with over 400 horses there is simply no reason to "slip" the cultch ether, flat level ground 2nd gear I can dump the clutch and it takes off without dying, I drove a repaired Class 8 trucks for years and 99.9 percent of clutch problems are directly traceable back to the drivers left foot, I never had took whatever measurement you gus are talking about, just installed good parts in good working order. even if I'm sitting at a traffic light I have it in neutral and my foot off the clutch pedal
My toe on the clutch ? Um no I don't ride with .you foot on the clutch nor the break ..I have a 700+ hr car on drag radials you are not dumping the clutch in this car. I just fully rebuilt my tr6060 and diff I'm not doing it again . Unless I have a byes ply an 15s I won't be doing that . On my setup slipping the clutch is the way to get the car to move without breaking it .
No the truth of things I am very very hard on things. You say it can't be broke I'll prove you wrong and do it .iv cut 1.5 60s with my rst at the track but that clutch didn't last long due to that an improper install of it
it's just that simple also with over 400 horses there is simply no reason to "slip" the clutch ether,
When your launching the vet with the revs around 4K off the line during strip runs, you can't dump the clutch, since it going to end up with the drive line either frag'd, or the back tires breaking loose instead.
So on the vet, the only solution is to slip the clutch on launch instead.
Note, on top fueler cars, you don't need to slip the clutch, since the clutch is set up to slip itself at launch. Hence the clutch is set to slip on the launch to hold the tire traction, then by about half track, the clutch has just fused itself together to fully lock up instead.
The the double edge sword with the vet and strip running, you need a clutch that will allow you to slip it (verses a road course type clutch that will just grab and stick and not very street drive-able isntead), but this means that you will wear the clutch out faster than a stick and grab type clutch type instead.
So would dare to guess if everything else check out fine, it was just the heat range of the clutch and how you where using it, that caused the plastic race support melting failure instead (which the metal race support will solve that problem).
How do you get the small retainer ring off with out damaging it?
I put a tiny bit of JB weld on mine during re-assembly. Not necessary but made me feel better. Just don't get it on anything bearing wise.
Just be very careful getting it off. Can't get another one without buying another slave (though you could use the one off your old slave if you had to)
