Default Tuneing a stock ecu

Hey everyone not sure if this has been talked about before but I was Looking to get a "chip/tune" so I can control somethings when I start doing my upgrades.
So what's everyone opinion on buying a tuner or just let a shop tune it and ride with it.
If your saying use a tuner what's the best tuner for your buck?

My vote is DiabloSport Predator, because you can get one on craigslist or eBay for less than $100. But don't use the DiabloSport canned tunes. Although they are an improvement over stock, they are not ideal for your specific car. Check out DiabLewTune.com. Lew (06MonteSS on this forum) knows his stuff. You collect data with your handheld tuner, send the data to Lew, who creates a custom tune for you based on your data. Very quick to respond. I have his tune on my Z06, and love it. And I'm currently basically stock, with an upgrade to air intake. I'll have him update my tune after I have heads fixed and ported this winter along with porting TB and intake, and adding headers.

If you are getting DiabLew to tune it, it doesn't matter which one you use. Yes, it takes 5-10 minutes to load the tune with the old Predator, and I'm sure InTune will probably load the tunes faster, and likely easier to navigate, more like a smartphone. But, they both do the exactly same thing. Predator is just older, and slower. But being older, it is a lot less expensive to pick up second hand...

HP tuners is a FAR FAR FAR more common and capable tuning package. Far more tuners use it. Allows you to adjust FAR more parameters. Plus allows you to choose out of hundreds of tuners. You don't have to tune it yourself, as there are hundreds of good people who can mail order tune it just like a diablo. Its faster, more features, better logging. There are zero downsides besides the $550 initial cost.

Good call. Forgot about Yay because I've got a Z06, for modifying the auto trans stuff, you do need an InTune, or Trinity.

InTune, Trinity or InTune I2 will do the auto transmission tuning as well.

For M6, T56 or T6060, the Predator u7194 will do Walmart you need.

No. Not any shop does custom tuning with DiabloSport handhelds.

There are several that do through email. You log the data, and then install the tune yourself. Very easy to do yourself. There are straightforward instructions. One of the most common, and well-known guy to do custom tunes with DiabloSport tuners is DiabLewTune.com. I have used him, as well as numerous others on here. Never heard a bad report or experience with using him.

I have the Diablosport I2 2030. Really like it. No experience with HP Tuners, but obviously, they're a good device and mentioned extensively. The I2 is very portable and easy to use for data logging.

If you are going to use Lew or have identified a tuner you want to work with, why not call him and find out what he likes to use?

I'm going to guess NO on the Trans stuff with the Predator. The reason being, I've been researching the Intune which replaced the Predator. It was out for some time before they updated it for the Trans.

Based on my research on Tuners I'm going to say that Diablosport would be your best bet if you want a simple DIY tune.

Yes HP Tuners are the SHIZZEL but ZOMG there's a learning curve with potential to really mess something up.

Only if you want to mess with that stuff, which you don't have to. You can get a tune from FAR more vendor, then click load and be done. Simple as that. Then if you want to adjust small things like idle speed, fan settings, etc, it is beyond easy to do.
