Default C6 brakes

My dad has just recently purchased a 2006 corvette. He wants to installed drilled rotors. It's a base model coupe. I asked gm and they told me it was a jl7 brake code, however I can only seem to find jl9. I know that it doesn't have the z51 suspension and when looking up rotors it is a little confusing. Can z51 brakes fit on a non z51 set-up? If not what rotors have been installed by you guys? If you know part numbers that would be awesome. Thanks

As HK770 pointed out, you can convert to the J55 (Z51 package) brakes, you need the new rotors and accompanying caliper brackets, that's all.

GM used to offer, don't know if they still do, Delco brand drilled rotors in the base (JL9) sizes. You can check on the cost and availability of both through Cultrag Performance or others.

Not sure what your budget is, or goals, but I have the factory brakes, but got Baer Eradispeed rotors for my car and red powder coated calipers. The rears are 14 inches instead of 12. The fronts I kept as stock size, primarily so that I could continue to get my hand into the wheel to clean the barrel when I wash the car. So far they've been pretty decent. No complaints. I didn't go with Z06 brakes because I wanted to upgrade my wheels and the non-flared fenders on the base model limit wheel choices. Brakes can narrow those choices even further. But the Z51 brakes can definitely fit a non-Z51 set up with the different bracket and rotor.
