Default UPDATED: Rotor Recommendation

I have read many pages of posts about Centic, Napa, etc...rotors and how great, quiet and low dust they were when initially installed. I'm looking for thoughts of rotors after putting some miles on them.

I have a 2012 Grand Sport Centennial and just bought the O'Reilly premium padlets that are made by Bosch for the front and rear and intend to replace the front and rear rotors with drilled and slotted or at least drilled rotors. I use my car for spirited street driving only.

Thanks in advance.

I bought drilled rotors and ceramic pads at Auto Zone and now have about 10,000 miles on them. No problems at all. Your dust will depend on what pads you bought, not the rotors.

Hey there! Yea, if you are going to use the same rotors for now (which really should not be a problem), just really clean out all of the holes. I daily drive my GS, and use performance pads, so I get a lot of dust. But I take it to the local car wash, and use their wand to really clean them about once a month. I move the car forward, so that I can get the holes covered by the caliper too.

This works surprisingly well for me, because I won't see significant brake dust on my wheels for several days.

I'm betting if you really clean your current rotors, they will be dust free

Now, onto rotors. I've used Bosch, AC Delco, and Raybestos drilled rotors (even for HDPE and autocross events) and never had an issue with them cracking (even though others have). I cool mine down good between sessions, and I have the holes washed out really good before the first event too. So my recommendation for the street is to get the style that you like, and don't worry about the brand. NOTE - you should get MUCH longer rotor life with ceramics too, based on everything that I've read, and seen with others. Meaning, virtually all performance pads wear out the rotors more.

Finally, I know that Firestone in my area uses Centric or Qualis brand rotors for our vettes, and I've never heard of anyone complaining about them (again, I'm sure mostly for street use). Just more food for thought.

Rotors don't dust. There should be no difference based on rotors.

Slotted. DBA 4000 are really good, they thought out their internal cooling better than OEM. If you do any hpde, the holes are useless and will fill with brake dust. With OEM, the internal vanes are pointing the correct direction on one side of the car, the wrong way on the other. If you are doing "spirited" street driving, I highly recommend a track day experience. You won't regret it, and its safer. Think of it this way, if you are caught in "spirited" mode, the ticket and increased insurance premiums will be far more costly than a track day.

"...padlets that are made by Bosch..." are those ceramic brake padlets?
