The saga continues. The guys that I ordered the latest from (Classic Industries) haven't processed the order as yet, because it takes them 3 days to get a shipping quote, apparently. I've called them twice and emailed them and told them I didn't even care what the shipping costs were, just ship the friggin thing, but today they told me that the guy who gets shipping quotes was out and they would get back to me, but when I checked the status of my order this evening, it now says the part is back ordered!? Yet when I ordered it on Tuesday they said they had 5 in stock. They must be selling like hot cakes. And nowhere else I've loooked has them in stock, not jegs, summit or even moroso themselves has them in stock. WTF? What is it with me and these goddamn unicorn parts??

Hey Brian, thanks again man, for all your efforts! That's great news!
Maybe, one day, with a bit of luck, and all the good help I get on here, I will be able to gather all of these "exotic" parts!

I knew you were going to tell me that!
But, hey, the fun is in the hunt, remember?? It's not so much that I need it, but I'm just entertaining myself with all this searching around...
It's like high school all over again: sure, you can get the right girl, the decent one that, really, really, likes you. But you want that nasty one, just because she's unobtainable...

Thanks my island brother, I appreciate the offer.
I would love to, but I'm afraid the shipping costs from your island to mine, on the opposite side of the globe, would be more than the exorbitant price that LG is charging for those pans now! $525 for a small piece of welded up aluminium is crazy. But, I guess if you're the only outfit around producing them, you can charge whatever...

Update: Looks like my luck may have turned. Classic Industries contacted me today to say that they were sorry for the cockup and in fact had my pan ready to ship out today, so I gave them the go ahead and it should be on its way to me now. I know it's an accessory I don't really need but I've put so much effort into it now that I don't feel like giving in, so that's that.
Once I get it next week, I'll post some pics so that everyone can see what it looks like.
BTW: the best price I've found so far online for this pan was ~$213, IIRC. That's a hell of a deal compared to $525 for what looks to be the same thing.

No worries man. It is greatly appreciated.
BTW: For the purpose of comparison, the quoted cost of shipping the pan from California to Cayman via UPS saver was $112. Then I'll have to pay 22% import duty (that's how they tax you down here) on the cost and shipping and insurance once it gets here. I'm hoping to get my hands on it by Tuesday latest.

I already have a cooler. I'm not doing this to get better cooling, because I really don't have a problem with that. I'm just adding capacity to the sump, especially since I'm adding a higher flow filter. Besides, I like the idea of having a drain plug, so the next time I change ATF or the filter in the future, I don't have to deal with balancing a pan full of oil again. I also like the idea of more sump capacity with the high stall converter, since everyone with a higher stall seems to need to overfill the stock pan.
Besides, the god of waste told me, three years ago, that I didn't need a Corvette, and I told him to kiss my ***, and I'm glad I did.

Same as with the stock pan. If you look at the pictures posted above, you'll see it has a tube welded in the bottom where the fill plug screws into.
I hate this whole having to go under the car with it running to check the oil level and thenif it needs some oil, having to top it up through the gap between the exhaust and the trans, whilst making sure the trans temp doesn't climb up too high, etc. That really sucks.
But, I've been wondering if I could find someplace to run a Lokar or B&M flexible locking dipstick to. Too bad the gas fill is on the opposite side of the car from the fill hole on the trans, because all the 6L80 dipsticks seem to be only 3' long which I doubt would reach. Some of the A6 Camaro and caddy guys install a dipstick on their firewall, so you can check the ATF level the conventional way. Maybe that'll be my next brain fart venture...

I asked because from the description I would still overfill the oil by quart, even with that pan. I think the idea is to have more oil over the filter. That won't change if the extra volume in that pan is just because its deeper.

The only way the level can go down is from a leak, so assuming you don't find any oil under the car, I don't really see much reason to check the oil often.

You must have to much time on your hands to consider all these "make work" projects.

Everybody has their quirks I guess. The pump can only pump what it can pump, which you mention no upgrades. To each his own.

GLWI.

Hey Sammy,

I just spoke with Vcm about the 108mm and 102mm throttle bodies
for the heartbeat. Lee explained to me it has an adaptor plate cast
from the 4 bolt magnuson supercharger manifold to an 8 bolt adaptor to
suit only the Ve commodore only. He is adamant it will not fit the vette, apparantely to do with the different snout angles. As for the 102mm, it is apparently just a Nick Williams TB. He said he can send you one, but suggests you just buy it in the states. He also said that
apparently there could be some slight machining to the heartbeat
adapter to take the 102 tb as the blade can hit? Sorry, i'm not that
clued up on the heartbeat, as I have not seen one in the flesh yet and i'm flying blind asking these questions.

Thanks very much for trying Brian. I suspected as much. I don't think Magnuson has ever made an upgrade snout for the C6 Heartbeat, although they have for the Commodores and the Camaro version and although they advertised it as being available. Typical.
And the aftermarket has also a couple of options for the Camaro from what I've seen.
Thanks nonetheless though. Remember to email me your shipping address when you have a chance, if you want that 90mm pulley.
