Default Blow horn for Line Lock?

Not sure if this is a really dumb idea, or a really good idea but I was looking for a way to keep both hands on the wheel when using line lock by using the horn. Guess I could bypass the relay all together and blow the horn whenever doing burnouts but might **** some people off.

Why do you need both hands on the wheel to do a burnout? Is your car manual or automatic?
What if you hit the horn while driving? Old habits are hard to break.
Why in the world would it be worth anything at the track if when you engaged line lock, the horn started blowing? You might set the record for most people to ever face palm at the same time.

Because I'm old. Car is a manual

Brakes would work normally unless I left the enable switch ON and blew the horn as I jammed on the brakes. The front brakes would never unlock if I hit the brakes before blowing and/or never engage if blowing the horn 1st. We don't blow horns here in Jersey....Just roll alongside the offender and give them the finger

That was a joke, possibly poorly implemented.

What about getting an automatic steering wheel and using one (or both) of the paddle switches?

Now that would be cool.

Also looking at the radio station changer button on the wheel but trying to find out if it can supply enough current to energize a relay coil (~ 60 milliamps)

Don't have the funds or guts for this...maybe 10 years ago, but not now:

The steering wheel buttons use a resister ladder type circuit with a 5v reference IIRC. You will need to use an arduino controller to interpret the signal from the button you want to use and have it trigger whatever you want it to activate. Two wires from the radio head unit, one to the steering wheel buttons and one a return with a lower voltage based on the button being pressed.

or to simplify it ... don't even use the CAM BUS , just use the buttons for what they are ... on off switch that could control a relay ....

Sounds like a pretty bad idea to me. You won't need to steer [much] with the linelock activated and you shouldn't be moving very fast between the time you let off of the linelock and put both hands on the steering wheel. It seems far more likely that you'd activate the linelock by accident and prevent your front brakes from working, or releasing. That could happen at _any_ speed which would be far more dangerous than rolling out of a burnout box.

Not part of the CAN bus. But they are being used as on off switches.
I bought a 2012+ suede wheel with Bluetooth buttons for my '08 and used an arduino to interpret the two buttons to control the dual mode exhaust.

I withheld my opinion about using them for line lock. I don't think it is a wise thing to do.
