Default Vitesse Throttle Controller, Reduced Engine Power

So after installing my throttle controller about a month ago, which I was less than impressed with but had to try it based on how great everyone thinks it is, my car gave me a reduced engine power and CEL on my way home from work today. Driving home barely able to get out of my own way didn't thrill me either. So I got home, put my reader on the car and had 3 throttle codes. Well I cleared the codes, reset the throttle controller and now will wait to see how long it is until it throws a code again.

Do many people have this problem with these things? If you did did you send it back to try a new one?

Recalibrate it .... setting the top or High position is very important and sometimes not done correctly which leads to this error code , make sure you have the pedal mashed against the floor . If you don't you can get this error as the throttle controller is sending a signal to the ECM that is out of range

If you still get the code , remove it ..to see if it's the Vitesse or something else ..... the Vitesse is not the only thing that will set that code

Yea I mashed it the first time I set it up, pressing the pedal any harder and I would have touched the engine block. Since this problem has manifested itself only since I put it in the car it seems reasonable that it is the Vitesse that caused it. I am going to let them know about it as I don't feel like carrying my code reader with me all the time.

It can be a number of things:

- A simple re-calibration is needed

- Your car battery is not sending a steady / good voltage for the controller to operate correctly.

- A bad Throttle position sensor ( When adding our Controller ), the issue is being amplified

Did you get error code P2138 ?

I didn't look at the specific code. All I know is I had 3. I was a little surprised to get it after a month of driving it. While a simple recal might be needed what happens if I take a trip with the car? Do I need to pull the battery cable on a highway to clear codes unless I have my scanner along? I'm not even sure on a C6 if pulling the cable clears the codes as I didn't do a google search to see if it does. If my wife drives it she won't be able to do anything until I look at it, to me that's unacceptable since she is the anti gear head. Since I think my car is fine without it that tells me the car is OK.

Edit, my battery is fine, scratch that problem.
Edit 2, I've datalogged my car around 60 times with HP tuners and my logs have never showed the car to vary from steady readings of throttle position at any throttle setting. So I would say scratch that problem too.

The car pooped the bed while I was cruising down a country road with the cruise on. When I was sick of following a slow SUV I pulled out to pass only to literally notice the car had no power. I looked down at the dash to be alerted to Reduced Power with the CEL light on. For the next 8 miles I turtled home while thinking what is the problem. When I was within a mile of home I finally thought about the Vitesse and some of the posts I've read about this as a problem. Upon hooking up the scanner that pretty much proved my thought out.

As I was leaving work tonight I was greeted with my Reduced Power again so this time I parked it and disconnected the throttle controller. The car was nice enough to not reduce my power but the idiot light stayed on. What is your phone number and name to contact you at?

Yes. Am alternating between ECO 0 and SP6.
Have re-calibrated. Battery is 5 y/o but still ok. Box is not tucked under carpet.

Good talking to you Saturday. Looks like my battery was low. It did seem as tho the car was cranking just a bit less easily. No further codes since installing new battery

Is there a certain schedule for re-calibrations we should follow? After a number of miles or length of time?
I got a code yesterday as I switched from ECO0 to SP6. It was after driving a mile. I did put in a new battery in July and never re-calibrated so maybe it needed that.
(I turned the engine off and re-started and got no further codes yesterday. I re-calibrated later)

Yes, we suggest to re-calibrate it every 2 or 3 months.

After changing your battery, you need a new calibration.

I didn't know that. I never recalibrated mine since installing it last year.

It's been working fine though.
