Default Need cam help

Hi I have a 13k miles ls3 out of a camaro, anyways it's going in a 93 rx7 with a t56 trans an z06 clutch. The car weighs 2700lbs with engine and I was looking at the gm asa cam out of the 525hp ls3 crate engine. What's your thoughts? And do I need to get springs and retainers?
Thanks
Richard

Any of the GM cams are complete junk. Call BTR and have him help you select a cam, or have Pat G spec a custom grind out.

Almost any aftermarket cam will need springs, retainers, seals, pushrods, etc.

have seen that cam make 480rwhp in a M6 Camaro.I run the hot cam version of it with 112 lsa instead of 110 lsa.mine made 650rwhp with it and gentle on the valve train.at 2700lbs it would fly

Don't use a GM cam.

I agree with Unreal. Patrick Guerra ("Pat G"), Brian Tooley Racing (BTR), Vengeance Racing, and many many others out there can help get you a cam.

No way an LS3 is making 650 RWHP NA with any cam. Only way that's happening is a blower or nitrous.

Go here for a Pat G consultation: https://www.guerragroup.com/camshaft-help

There are so many far better options out there. I would just give BTR a call and go with one of his full kits.
Is it going to be a carbed setup? Hell, with a manual and that kind of weight, I would personally consider one of the new low-lash solid lifter grinds. But with that, you would have to lift the heads to change the lifters, which it would be beneficial to do anyhow, imho. With a solid roller you could really spin that thing to make serious power in the upper rpms and probably make more torque to boot.

I agree with the above statement go with Patric G and have a cam spec for your car.

GM doesn't make a 2,600 lbs. car and non of the over the counter cams are grind for a car that light.

Yeah I would love to do a blower but I do not have a ton of room for a blower, I would need a lower profile lsa lid to make it work or something that is not much taller than stock ls intake.
