Default Z06 Trans Cooler

The 2006 GM Shop Manual has no description of how the trans cooler works. Clearly fluid is pumped to the radiator; but, what pumps the fluid? Also, it appears that the fluid lines connect to a diff cooler. Can someone describe how the system works?

I know how the differential cooler works, at least on the later models. It actually uses a heat exchanger using the transmission oil as the cooling medium. Hot differential oil is pumped through the heat exchanger via a pump on the read of the differential. I suspect there is a separate pump for the transmission that circulates the transmission oil through the differential heat exchanger and up to the radiator.

z06/zr1 trannys have a pump on the front, and it pumps the fluid up to the radiator to be warmed and cooled, then back to the tranny. It also circulates fluid through the differential cooler block.

Yes, it's internal to both the t56 & tr6060. not something you can just replace without tearing down. We had a t56 apart not long ago and someone prior forgot to put back the pick up tube/strainer. His 3rd gear blew but not without taking out the pump since the strainer wasn't there to do it's job and protect it.
