My gear shift sometimes doesn't let me shift, without forcing it into gear. Sometimes the break clicks to release it, but hardly ever, and I am left to physically force it into gear. Any ideas what it is? The dealer has NO idea, and it rarely sticks when I bring it to them! LOL
There are some threads about a way to bypass the shifter safety solenoid but most have just replaced the shifter with a new one since that is the only way to get the part that is needed to repair the random "failure to come out of park" issue. I went through the same issue under warranty with the dealer saying "cannot duplicate the issue" until I attempted to pick the car up from the dealer and the shifter failed in there parking lot.
Thanks so much. Never thought to look in the owners manual! Who would have thought it would be there! I do read most of the manual once I get a different car, but missed this little jewel. cool!
Did you see the other comment that contained a video? It was right after yours.

I did actually. I was kind of frustrated by it. I had watched that video months ago and spent several minutes in my YouTube history trying to find it. After posting it, my feeling of heroism and swelling of pride was destroyed as I read the next thread. Ah well, I guess.
Hey, you did great. I am going to ty the accessory thing first, then once it gets cooler , might have to try the other way like in the video. You are still a hero!
