Passenger Side Hood Release
Can I assume that I can access the latch and disengage it if I have the car on a lift?
thanks...
Start with going to the hood release lever by your left knee, then pull the lever back to expose the cables, and grab the cables with a pick tool to give them an extra amount of tug, and this will release the hood latch on the passenger side.
Now with the hood open, put the lever assembly back in with the Philips screw, latch each latch close by hand, then check the amount of free play that the end of cable has to the latch before the cable end will pull the lever enough to fire the latch open. The passenger side cable is longer, and it tends to stretch more than then the drivers side.
So the low down, you need to take up that extra bit of cable stretch on passengers side so both latches are opening at the same time when you pull the release lever,

I have a lathe and mill and just make these the size I need to crimp on to the cable ends to adjust for the cable stretch so it looks a bit more pretty. Hence use a pair of hemo stat's to start with to clamp on the cable before the end ball to determine the amount of slack take up that is needed for both latches to fire open at the same time, then make the needed length piece to crimp into place on the cable before the end ball.

But if push comes to shove, you can use a split washer or two crimped down a little more after it's installed on the cable so it will not fall off instead.

As for down the line if the cable has to be adjusted again, thinking about just installing these type adjuster instead of the split rings, where the cable itself snaps into the bracket isntead.
