I have a 2005 convertible withZ51 package and need to replace the leaf springs. Does anyone have experience with putting the C5Z06 FRONT leaf spring on a C6? Also, what about the front spring from a C6Z06? Will that plug and play fit?
Will rears work? C5 and C6 I thought had different rear spring attachment points. Not a statement, but a question.
Don't really know, but with a used C5 spring begin at least 14 years old, would not install a used one in the first place.
Hell, with a C6 springs up to 13 years old, would still favor new springs for replacements.
Take a Z51 car that someone pulled the springs to upgrade them to stiffer springs, and you can bank that the old FE3's saw a hard life before they where pulled in the first place. One step farther, and when I am refreshing a C6 suspension at 100K to tighten it back up, trans springs are one of the items that are replaced.
Take the factory ride height adjusters, and thank Yahweh that we can get after market OEM styles ones, since they tend to mushroom out around the 50K mark themselves, and due for replacements even then.
Barring your desired spring rates, C5 & C6 front springs are interchangeable...the rears are not. They will not mate up to the C6 rear cradle and lower control arms.
The C5Z and C6Z51 springs have the identical spring rate of 526 lb and the C6Z is 531 lb.
Why not go with coil overs? Just a question, I know they can be pricey but if you drive the car a lot. Just saying.
Fan of coil over shock system if the shocks are rebuild able, and fully adjustable for hard core road course track use where you can tell the difference,
But short of that, would say that 90% of the C6's that get an coil over system, wasted with the owners not begin even to tell if there was an upgrade to handing that is never going to show up on just the street isntead.
Hell, most of the time, the suspension is not even final adjusted correctly to start with. They get adjusted to the suggest settings to begin with on install, and never final tuned any farther on track use isntead. And the fact that some of the coil over shocks are not rebuild-able, come the 30K of actual road course hard use, since you can't quickly rebuild them, then they have to be replaced isntead.

Sorta guilty! I did adjust the coilovers on the Corvette, but I just put coilovers on my Mustang Convertible and will never optimize the tune on them. I did it so I could get the ride height I wanted. Plus, Mustang coilovers are almost free compared to good Corvette coilovers.
