I just picked up 2006 base model to make track car! I'm doing 15in rear conversion so curious bout power to stock axles! I am going to change gear didn't know if be better to change with Z06 diff and axles or just change gear! I have a 2013 ZR1 makes over 700 never had axel problem with this power and my GS made 608 and never problem! Thx for any insight!

The biggest contribution to a failed C6 differential is wheel hop. As far as oem strength: 2005 < 2006+ < Z06 < ZR1. The two weak areas in a base C6 2006+ differential are the stub axles and pre load springs that are thin and weak. Upgrading the stub axles to a Z06 and installing HD pre load springs address two of the weaker links of the base differential. If applicable, I would get a Z06 differential and axles. Of course, there are further upgrades and its always best to discuss with the professional, i.e. RPM transmissions in Indiana.

Thx for the info! I know gearing different wasn't sure if z06 had more spoline axles! I know my Zr1 has different cooler than Z06 and read Zo6 diff and axles bolt right up! You know th8s to be true! THX

All manual C6 corvettes came with 3.42 gears in the differential. The transmission gears were different, Base, Z51/GS, Z06 and ZR1 all had different transmission gear ratios. Yes, spline count varied on the different model corvette differentials, higher the better.
