Steering rack noise
2007 Coupe, 17,000 miles, AT, never tracked or abused, one owner- PROBLEM: Screaching noise coming from rack area when at stop, engine running, turning steering wheel slightly right or left. Also will make same sound at crawl speed turn. With partial weight/load or all off, no noise. Things checked: u-joint on column shaft, rack bolts tightness, ball joint tightness, swaybar tightness and bushing lube, leaks from rack and all seem okay. A slight vibration can be felt on the rack tube when turning steeringwheel under full weight load. Only thing not checked is the inner and outer tie rod connections. Seems odd that a rack would go bad at 17,000 miles and no leaks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
