Default Garage Door Programming

I have a 2005 C6 and trying to program the homelink visor transmitter to my garage door. Problem is that I don't have the hand held transmitter/opener, which according to everything that I read, is necessary to program the car to the opened. I pushed both outer buttons on the visor until the light blinked. The next steps instructs me to place the hand held transmitter next to the visor and push both buttons simultaneously (this is the missing piece). It then instructs me to push the learn button on the opener to sinc both.

So here's the question: has anyone programmed or found a way to program homelink without having the hand held transmitter? Any thoughts/help is greatly appreciated!!

How do you open the door without a remote?

Also, many openers have a learn button on the opener itself.

This is how I programmed my home link for garage door opener, press home link buttons till flashing then hit learn on opener hanging in garage. Didn't need or use the remote opener, I also followed instructions in owners manual which I believe is the same as stated previously.

<Same as above posts> My garage opener (20 yr old Genie) requires that I put it in learn mode. Then I press open button in the car to install the programming. If it blinks quickly its programmed. It is VERY temperamental and you might need to try it more that once.

The keypad is probably a battery operated remote. You can probably unscrew it from the wall and carry it to your Vette. Enter the keypad code to activate it at the proper time. the Homelink should receive the signal. The hang up may be that the keypad doesn't transmit long enough for the Homelink to scan through the frequencies. You may get lucky, though.

Here's another thought, just go to the hardware store and buy a hand held transmitter for your garage door model and set it up for your door opener. Then use the new hand held opener to program the one in the car. Just did this on a new townhouse I bought that didn't have the hand held door opener I needed. Now the car opens the door and I have a spare opener that I can use.

Crap, we just spent some dollars putting in a high lift bay door and converting the rest of the openers to 8500W shaft drives.........I still need a repeater device to use GMs stupid garage system. ALL of my other cars connected and learned with just the buttons.......Don't like this GM system on the C6s.

GM used it for a short period of time unfortunately. My GS has to have the translater/repeater, my 17 Yukon didn't.
