I am thinking about doing a cold air intake on my 427 convertible next summer. I am hoping that anyone who has changed out their stock intake on their LS7 would shoot a video of the car on start up and revving up to 4000 RPM so I can decide based on sound and manufacturer's claims for HP increase. I still miss the sound of the 4 bbl carb. and engine combination on my 67 Camaro with LT1 engine dropped into it from back in the 1980s so would love a similar sound.
Not sure of if you can post videos on this forum, so I hope videos could be uploaded to Youtube instead.
intake on an LS7 will make almost zero sound difference... maybe a light whistle on idle, slight growl on throttle stomp - but most noise comes out the back and will overwhelm any perceptible change in intake/induction noise. No EFI car will sound like a carb'd or ITB'd car sadly.
That is disappointing. I was hoping maybe a ram air style induction would have a distinct sound like the 4 bbl opening up. A little more exhaust growl would be okay but I do not necessarily want to change to performance exhaust.
