Default No turn by turn navigation

Hello all,
Im a new member and this is my first post. I've been reading the tutorials on the Corvette forum but can't seem to find an answer for my nav question.
I have a 2008 c6 base with nav, Bose and HUD that I bought a few months back and it wont give voice guidance. I cant get it to go into route active mode. I put in a destination, tap the target icon and then press guide. It calculates a route and says proceed to the highlighted route to start navigation. I have a highlighted route with an arrow about a quarter of a mile in front to follow. It doesn't make another sound or offer turn by turn on the screen until I reach the destination and it announces that I have arrived. I have tried deleting all waypoints and other destinations. I've turned voice guidance on and off via voice as well as on the menu screens. It does recognize that I am moving, there are icons that grey out when moving. I can not get any of the different map display screens to come up except full screen and the one right screen, the ones that show next 3 turns, highway, etc are always greyed out. I've tried the voice commands and it says you are not on route guidance even when on the highlighted route. Also nothing displays on the HUD. I have it in street mode and mph. What am I doing wrong? I had disc version 9 and just got version 10 with no change.
thanks for your expertise...

was this problem active when you purchased the vehicle? did you disconnect the battery since you had the car?
see the sticky at the top of this page, it answers a lot of the questions concerning the nav.

Yes, it has been this way since I bought it in January. Yes, I disconnected the battery for about 30 mins and now have no clock. I read the owners manual and the users manual references made by paul, all six parts, plus the videos he made at the corvette museum. None addressed the issues I'm having unless I missed something. This nav system is not that complicated, I work with much more complex navigation systems daily.
thanks for your reply. I emailed paul a few days ago but he must be busy.

I am thinking your factory nav sysyem is just busted ... More than likely there are no parts even available to fix it and it may not even be worth the trouble or cost trying to fix it.

Time to just replace it with a good aftermarket head unit with built-in Garmin navigation ... That system GM used was pretty much antiquated even when it was first installed in these cars.

Kenwood makes various models with the great Garmin nav and is years ahead of the C6 factory nav ...

I was thinking about the kenwood that I can screen mirror from my phone and use Waze. I thought I read somewhere you need to change the speakers as well due to different ohms. Really don't want to do that.

Get one that supports Android Auto or IPhone Car Play.

And all of the better aftermarket head units do just that.

And with a good aftermarket head unit, he will also get a USB connector (so he can play songs straight from a thumb drive) ... In fact, my Kenwood HU has two USB connectors (one I can use to charge a smartphone if I need to).

i didn't go that far. when i found the sticky concerning this problem i just stopped worrying about it and sitting back and wait for the solution. but it is irritating to look at the clock to see what time it is and see a blank space.

OP, have you tried the fix as posted above? Try it, what have you got to lose? Let us know if it works for you or not.
