I was wondering if anyone has close up pictures of how they mounted their transmission cooler to the car. I am looking to do this project ahead of getting a stall converter and I am curious what other people are doing. Brackets used, mounting points, bolts, etc... would be great.
Ideally, I would be doing this on the passenger side behind the fog light. All in all, I will run this inline with the stock trans cooler in the radiator.
It will run cooler if you don't run it inline with the radiator.
it will run a little cooler but it would take a heck of a lot longer to get up to safe operating temperature for aggressive driving. By running a good radiator(Dewitt’s) or even the stocker with the TOC and a inline cooler you get the best of both worlds. Quicker warm up and safe operating temps

My thoughts exactly. Even though I live in Arizona, winters still get chilly and I don't want to worry about not hitting operating temps for half the year.
Trans fluid temp is fine even if it run so at 150 degrees. Performance and protection is not affected. It doesn’t work like engine oil. Just drive it long enough to get rid of any condensation. Mine runs 178 on 90 deg days in light traffic. B&M in front of radiator and bypassed cooler in the radiator.
I mounted mine in front behind where the fog lamp was and soon noticed there’s not enough air coming in true there so installed a fan on it.
is if I recall rite 10” x 11” with a 10” pushing fan.
Have an adjustable thermostat in to start the fan @ 185* off @ 165* to run both coolers,
The p/side is the trany on the d/side cooler is for engine oil.
Talking to the guys at Circle D trans who rebuilt my trans and they say minimum of 150* before getting on it hard. They’re one of the top authorities on the 6L80. Mine has a Dewitt’s with TOC along with the fanned B&M( thermostat turns on at 175*) in my passenger side nose and in 50-60* weather it usually takes at least half an hour to reach 150*. Haven’t driven the car since the rebuild in temps cooler then that yet. Going to be considerably longer without first warming through the rad.
Im tired already of having to watch and wait for the temp to come up to have some fun. I’m going to to come up with something to cover the fog light opening to reduce airflow in cooler weather. In the summer the system works great, double edge sword thing. Most of time driving the car is in warmer weather so no big deal.

I've been saying 150 F is minimum for years. In simple terms, the fluid has a high rate of thermal expansion and doesn't have enough volume when cold. It makes people wonder why I run the engine while sitting in the staging lanes with the heater on full blast and the windows down, but it keeps the fluid in the 150-170 range (about 800-1000 RPM in 2nd gear), the coolant around 190-200, and the oil about 220.
