Default HB Question

Have any of you ever seen this ?

2013 GS 25k.
I have been hearing an occasional chirp at startup. The balancer itself is not wobbling at all, but it looks like the washer is. The bolt is tight, but it does look like something was moving around because of the rust spot. Ideas ?

Difficult to tell in that pic.Could you post another pic showing both the inner and outer hub of the hb.Looks like the outer hub has moved back towards the front cover and some one has rounded off the corners of your hb bolt by over torquing it.With correct torque it will not round off the bolt like that and that rust is ok

Also, the bolt is a one-time usage. You must use a new bolt every time. Most installers use the GM bolt and washer.
Replacing the HB is an expensive job requiring loosening the engine cradle and jacking the engine up. If the HB looks okay, it probably is okay.

Looks like someone has had a big wrench on that bolt before.

That don't look like damage caused by a complete failure of the balancer at one time before, causing the balancer to move far enough forward to contact the steering rack.

Again, someone has had a wrench or socket on it some time in the past.

That doesnt look like a factory bolt. Looks to me like they snugged the balancer back on with the original bolt, then used a different bolt with a washer behind it that is smaller than the OEM bolt head.

Here is a pic of the entire balancer, it doesn't look like the ring is separated from the hub.

The marks on the bolt are from when I checked to make sure that it was tight. I have been the only one to ever work on the car, so everything is the way it left BG.
