Lots of good info in this thread... I eventually will go auto in a drag car, but i'm having fun with a street car. For comparison, with a blower and manual car on 19" drag radials, 1.88 60' i went 10.85? @ 140. haha... so sky is the limit when you work on drivetrain, get out clean and then add power.
my only call out is with GS you are fighting weight... Z06 you have the heads question (just find one fixed)... I went base model and blower, with some reductions on welds car weighed in at 2980 with driver, track tools and fuel (not the setup above)

I'm now more serious about a M6 car and considering strongly considering a Z06. A late model M6 C6 either GS or Z06 in super nice condition will get my money. I still have nearly a year before my purchase window opens up. I'll keep researching until then. I'm enjoying reading about these cars.
Lots of ways to skin that cat. A6 LS3 Vettes are easier to run good numbers. M6 Vettes are just more fun to drive. I almost had myself convinced that I needed a C8. The C7's just never blew my dress up. I just about have myself talked out of it now. My lowly narrow body M6 2013 coupe with heads/cam is just too much fun to drive. It's kind of a poor boy's Z06. Bought it for low $20's with 40K on the clock. It had some issues, but they were easily addressed during the engine work. Since the last post in this thread, TxSpeed heads and mild cam build - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion I've added 295/255 Michelin PS4's. Better traction, but still breaks loose in first and at the top of second on some pavements. I'm sure it's 10 second capable with drag radials and a little seat time for the operator. Weighs in around 3150 with half a tank of fuel. It's more capable in a straight line and in the curves than its owner.

Thanks for sharing some of your details. I really do think that I've decided to get an M6. My last hotrod was a 2000 Camaro SS auto and was a blast to drive when I put the Yank SS3600 stall. Even then, I sometimes wondered if I was missing out not having a manual tranny. When I read on here about folks and the manual trans, it seems that the majority of folks prefer the M6 for fun factor.
