I posted a thread the other day with a video but for those that haven’t seen it here it is for reference on why I’m looking at lifters. Both sides of motor, around cylinders 1/3 and 2/4.
This tick used to be even louder but I put some detergent in the oil and ran it a bit before an oil change and it quietened some. Around the 1:10 mark u can hear it good

That sounds way worse than mine did & mine needed a cam and lifters, take a good look at the cam lobes while you are in there

You do realize that the heads have to come off to get to the lifters and trays.

How Good of a look can you get at the cam lobes by removing the lift trays and not actually pulling the cam? I shop is doing this work and if they have to pull the cam that’s gonna be a lot more in labor charges but I would assume you could probably get a good look at the cam lobes by removing the lifter trays?

They will pull the trays and lifters then you will be able to see the lopes. I'm sure there going to inspect them and it doesn't hurt to ask what all they are going to do.

Btw I found the GM ls7 lifters available at a decent price, I just hope they are the legit GM ls7 lifters. It says they are part number 12499225 which is supposed to be the good ones. They are at Michigan Motorsports, has anyone ever dealt with them?? At Summit they are like $315

that lifter is the same one p/n 12499225 used in the LS2 & LS7.they came numbered like that for the 16 lifters. lots of lifters are on the net that are fakes.look at the GM race lifters p/n 88958689 for about the same price.$369. at juicedmotorsports.com

Yeah I know that’s what I’m afraid of, I don’t want the cheaper “ls7 style” ones or the Delphi ones... that’s why I previously asked about the reputation of that company.
I did look into the ones you mentioned and believe those are the “caddy race lifters” and I know they are supposed to be good but I also read there were mixed reviews on them because of failures. They are close to $400 and if I can get legit GM ls7 lifters for $260 i’ll prob go that route. I’m going to call Michigan Motorsports tomorrow and talk to them.

Are they the same exact dimensions as the LS7 lifters and also require the same preload? If so I may just go with those.

You guys positive that the 88958689 lifters are a direct replacement for the stock ls3 lifters and will work fine with the stock cam and pushrods? I don’t mind to pay a bit more as long as I know they are good
