Was driving home and about the last two mikes just as i came into town my clutch pedal went all the way down and wouldn’t come back up. When i first noticed it there was about 1” of spring in it about a mile later it was completely to the floor. Just coasted into the driveway.
iv had tons of manual cars and have never experienced this so sorry if a newbie question i just dont know
Check some other posts GM had a recall on the clutch master cylinder/reservoir a few years back. You can tell if you have the new one as the reservoir is all black versus a cream/white color. This would be the first thing to replace before going any further. The new unit apparentely has a more robust hydraulic system.
Probably clutch master cylinder failure. Look and see if any fluid is coming out of the bell housing. If so, it might be the slave cylinder. I'd be looking at the master first though.
Thank you guys for chiming in. I will read through the thread. Is it a hard job to replace the master/slave cylinder? Id rather do it myself vs a dealer charging me a small fortune and all i get back is a band aid for the problem less rubber on my rear tires.
It's not a bad one to change but kind of awkward to get to. The GM replacement part comes pre-bled so you wouldn't have needed to bleed it. The slave cylinder is way, way more work (i.e. removing rear drivetrain + torque tube) to get to it, so that would probably not be a DIY project for you
Regardless... if they are going to cover it then that's even better
Just my $0.02 - but you might want to plan on getting some DOT 3 brake fluid, and a turkey baster. and maybe twice every year - remove the cap from the clutch cylinder fluid reservoir - and suck out the old fluid, and put in nice fresh fluid - then replace the cap.
It's hardly a guarantee that the hydraulics won't fail again - but you might be surprised how contaminated the fluid gets.

What year is your GS? I believe it was a TSB not a recall and only good for 10 years. I tried getting the revised master for mine and was denied.
mine is a 2012. They covered it and ya it was not a recall. The service manager said they extended the warranty on that part and two others to 10 years. So my ten ten years ends in august according to my vin.
