I recently purchased a 2012 Grand Sport, and it's running 285/35 ZR 18 and 345/30 ZR 19. The dealer said that this set up will trigger the service active handling message, and the TPMS light will stay on. The service active handling message comes on as soon as I start to pull forward, and sometimes I can feel the front brakes being applied? Is this normal? Can I or should I disable the active handling? I saw a video on Youtube on how to do that. Should I have it checked out by the dealer? This is my first Corvette and I was excited about ownership, but now I'm not so sure. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
There is a thread at the top of the main page about Service Active Handling. It could be the tires but also could be that the dealer told you this so that you would buy the car as is and not concern yourself with the minor details of something that could be faulty. Haven't heard of the issue happening on non-stock tires. I have had the problem for years and have gone through the recall and have been told different "stories" by the dealer as to why this is happening.
Diameter of the front tire is 25.9
Rear at 27.1 that you have in play.
Factory difference front to backs in tire diameter is 1.08", while this combo set of tires is 1.2" instead.
Its boarder line if the tire problem is coming from the slightly larger percentage than factory tire ratio, or if you have another problems on your hands instead.
So on that note, would put a scanner like a Tech II on the car that can pull codes down to the body level, to see if there is other problems than the ratio. Hence if tire ratio is the problem, will not see any codes, since the car sees the sensors as fine, but the front and rear tires just not covering the correct amount of ground to kick AH in in the first place.
As for changing the tire ratios in the EBCM, not going to happen, and why tire selection/diameters of the tires front to back are so important on the C6.
