Default Boost controller wiring

I have a Turbosmart eBoost2 electronic boost controller on my car. The instructions tell me I need to tap into a “square wave tach signal”. I tapped into the tach signal at the gauge cluster instead of at the coils on the engine. I’ve seen these controllers used on these cars so I know it’s possible. I tried Turbosmart tech support and they couldn’t tell me anything about my application. Has anyone done this or have any suggestions? Everything works except for reading the rpm’s. Thanks for any help.

ICP signal is a digital one to the entire cluster, and not the one you want.

Need to know what model/year, hence ECM type in the car, since the RPM signal you want is out of the ecm harness on its own pin (not used) isntead.
