Default high speed tail instability

put new Michelins on rear and at about 125 felt rear sway some. any ideas?

Yep, it is likely an alignment issue.

I would also check the rear tie rod ends. I had much the same issue and it was the constantly changing toe-in at the rear.

thanks for suggestion! will ck all that. It felt pretty unnerving the left then right sway at that speed on a really nice road

May be a possibility of loose axle nuts on either rear axle(s) as well. Usually would also cause a noise in the rear like clicking or popping. You can pull the wheel to check and ensure they are tight. If loose, they are a one-time use, so should purchase new axle nuts and then torque to 118 lb ft.

Check the corner balance on the car,
Hence will bank that someone lowered the car, did not corner balance it again after it was lowered, and between the out of alignment and last of correct corner balance by it being lowered, it's going to be all over the road at speeds.
Note, if a Zr1 type spoiler was put on the rear of the car, without correcting the front down force needed as well with front splitter and side skirts , front end is going to feel very loose from the added front end lift that the rear spoiler causes at speed as well.
