Default I broke it

Hi,

I have a Brake problem

I have a base C6 model, It is Blown with gears, Exhaust Buts extras are not relevant for my current problem.
I do all my own work and have been a mechanic for over 35 hears but im stumped here. If anybody can interject and advise, I would greatly appreciate it.

I decided to pull the front wheels and paint the stock ugly gray calipers.
no brake lines were un-hooked and I compressed both caliper pistons on both sides to make it easier to assemble.

after assembly, I had to pump the brakes of course to take up the slack
/ clearance I cause by collapsing the pistons.

Something is wrong and the brake booster will not release the breaks.

They drag severally and i can only get them to release if I unhook the vacuum line.

Please help

Best Regards

Chad

Only a guess.

If you only did what you describe, perhaps when the pistons were compressed, you pushed debris into the lines.
Try a brake bleed.

What is not clear to me is if all four calipers are not releasing or how you compressed the caliper pistons.
Out of the box thinking when you painted, did you remove the pads and pins?

Good luck.

Default Fixed it :-)

The only things I knew were:
I pushed the caliper pistons in so they would have to be pushed back out to thickness position after assembly.

After assembly:
When I first tried to push the brake pedal down it hit the floor naturally. Then I pumped them up as needed.
Funny thing was, the brake pedal would never return all the way back to it familiar position.
I started suspecting linkage, booster, and or Master cylinder. I even loosened the MC up giving it an extra 1/2"

i wanted to look at the linkage under the dash and there I found it.

There is a plastic Valance under the dash. This Valance, has an extended flap on it.
Somehow, this flap got trapped under the brake pedal shaft holding it down slightly.

Note to all,

Thanks for reading my post and hope this may save somebody some work some day.
This is a 2005 and could happen to anybody doing a brake job or bleeding their brakes
