Default z06 hood alignment help

Hi
Just bolted on a 2012 ZR1 hood to my Z06 Wil Cooskey edition. I was surprised but the color match was almost perfect(crystal red mettalic). I didn't mark my old hod prior to removal and now I am having issues getting the proper height. Is there any tricks? I removed just the 4 bolts that hold the hood to the existing hinge. When I loosen the bolts and lower the hood the height looks good. Of course when I open the hood the bolts shift, tried loosely tightening them and then closing but no luck. Thinking of putting my cel phione on with a light and record the height when the hood is down , then opening the hood and matching the adjustment.Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
todd

. You are going to have to tighten them more then loosely. Closing the hood the shocks will make them move. Trial and error.

good point, I think I will disconnect hood struts and then what ? If I tighten them too much the hood won't adjust .
Thanks

Leave the struts on. If you take them off the hood will go a lot further open then you want. If you can’t figure it out take it to a body shop. Small adjustments a little at a time and you will get it.

Yep, its a hell of lot easier to adjust the hood from under the car and withing the engine bay as it moving down the assembly line (before the body is dropped on the rolling chassis), them to adjust it after the drive line has been installed instead.

I ended up trying the camera thing but that didn't work, I would adjust it to the way it look in the pics but was way to high. I ended up tightening the 4 bolts just enough as where the hood would move when I would push on it when lowered. I would lower the hood ,push the front of the hood to be flush with the bumper cover ,then slowy raise it and ust enough to slip my hand in there and tighten the bolts.I did this one side at a time. Eventually I got it to where I wanted it.
