I'm looking for some 1 7/8" headers and x-pipe for my 2012 grand sport m6. I think I've read every thread on this forum regarding them. I had my mind made up on the LG Motorsports one because they are the longest and because I liked that the catted x-pipe comes with catless piping too if you decide not to run them. But I started researching YouTube videos and found a couple showing how they had to cut up the car to get them to fit. Now i'm back to square one. Can anyone else report on their experience with the LG header installation? Did you have to cut anything for fitment? I've read and seen video on ARH headers requiring cutting too. And a couple fitment issues with Kooks. I am hoping to purchase in the next couple days and catch a Black Friday Deal.
With that being said, which vendors have 1 7/8" w/ catless x-pipe IN STOCK and whats the black friday pricing? (If its LG, then catted x-pipe with the catless piping included)
I don't have a GS, but the LG long tube headers were the easiest set of headers I've ever installed. I don't remember the size of the headers, just that they were called street headers. This was what they recommended for my car.
I didn't have to modify anything. I installed these headers with the car on jack stands in my home garage.
Just to be clear, I'm referring to the LG super pro long tube headers.
Unless you are going to make internal engine mods, add a blower, or run nitrous, the LG Streets (1.75") will provide more power. Bigger is not always better.

Reason: added info
If I had fitment concerns, I'd be on the phone talking in person to the installer at LG to confirm no cutting needed and getting the names of authorized installers in your area, assuming you don't intend to do the install yourself. Then send a PO with the same info to document the conversation. I seriously doubt Lou would create headers that would require cutting parts of your car to get them installed, but I have no doubts about the incompetence of some people who would cut up their car and then complain about the quality of the product.
BTW, I'm not fond of the slip joint/clamp pipe connections, so I drill a hole and insert a short sheet metal screw at the overlap to ensure it stays together.
If you have to cut a kooks or arh header system for fitment purposes, something is very wrong. These kits are not designed for that. They are designed to work with their own midpipes. I believe the super cheap (low quality steel) headers from Dynatech and/or Flowtech can be used with the oem x-pipe if you cut that x pipe somewhere in the middle where the header assembly would meet up to that piece.

Thanks!
Kooks are the way to go. And do go with cats or you are very likely to have low frequency drone. Also, I have had ARH on the same car (2011 Grand Sport) and ARH do have fitment issues (this is inexcusable).
Best deal right now is probably here: Kooks C6 Corvette Headers at DSP Motorsports They are doing free shipping AND no sales tax for Black Friday. In addition, use code kok12d for 12% off. Final price would be $1961.19.

Hear this man, he know s what he's talking about. It's all about the exhaust gas velocity not the diameter.
