The zr1 cam is a weird cam. You would lose a lot of torque under the curve and would feel
like a turd. Centri blowers do better with tighter LSA
Stock ls2 heads have pushed 800whp…. You can remove the restrictor plate, add meth with stock cam and get more bang for your buck. And the car will behave like stock.
OP I also wouldn’t use Texas speed cams. Their lobes are very aggressive and make a small cam feel bigger. That will be annoying with a stock stall.
I agree with your take on the LS9 cam used with a centrifugal blower. That's just not a good match. A good centri cam is a mild n/a cam with a big exhaust duration. Tx Speed cams aren't really all that aggressive now adays. They do custom grinds now and the cams are well received.
If you can't find an off the shelf cam that really fits your needs ... figure out what specs you want in the cam and then have Cam Motion grind the new cam to exactly what your wanting.
Just my opinion, but if I was installing a centrifugal supercharger and wanted a cam that had good street manners on a 6.0L LS2, and a cam that didn't need a really high stall converter ... I would opt for something like this:
BTW ... keeping the valve lift below .600" valve lift will increase the longevity of your valve springs by a bunch.
You told them you had a blower on your Vette and they recommended a cam with 224* intake duration and 224* exhaust duration? That makes no sense. If it was mine, I'd have someone like Tx Speed cnc port the stock heads and do a cam something like a 220/234 on a 115lsa.
Could that work for a stock 1988 Corvette L98, 5.7 liter engine?

That engine was one of the last Gen 1 Chevy small blocks. I'd get on the C2, C3, and C4 forums. I still have a 69 Camaro with a 406 small block under the hood. I had a lot of help with cam selection on that one. Don't remember the specs or how they were chosen. There are guys on the forums I mentioned that live and breathe that stuff. Reach out to them and I'm sure they will help you.
