Hey! Just bought my first corvette. 06 coupe, base. Really love it. My question is how concerned should I really be if my harmonic balancer has a little wobble? Is it time to replace it? No squeaks or noises. 86K miles. Well maintained.
Thanks!!

Reason: Better title
Normally, if you can detect some wobble visually, it is time to replace it. In your case, since you have no squeaks or other noises, you probably could get by a little while if you keep an eye on it, but start making plans to replace it now.

Replace it ASAP, better than under hood damage or tow.
Thanks. I kind of figured it needs replacing. I’m in central California. Does anybody know a trustworthy mechanic in my area? Fresno, Modesto, Bay Area.
Thanks again.

There are several Corvette clubs in your area. Best to contact one of them for recommendations.
Hey there! So I am still trying to find a mechanic/shop that can replace my harmonic balancer. I got a quote from a "corvette shop" that is about 2 hours from where I live. They quoted me $2500!!! I thought that was ridiculous. I tried reaching out to a local corvette club, but they were unwilling to assist me. Does anyone out there know of a honest reasonable mechanic in central or northern California that I can reach out to? I am totally stumped. Thanks!

I can't offer a personal recommendation because I do my own work, but the overwhelming crowd favorite for Corvette service in Northern California is Abel Chevrolet in Rio Vista.
Well I finally got my harmonic balancer replaced. New bolt and front main seal and belts. Got it done locally from a shop recommended by the local Corvette club. $1000 for parts and labor. Turned out great! Very happy. Oh, I went with the Powerbond PB1117SS.
That's a decent deal, and you didn't have to scrape your own knuckles! If all was done correctly and the replacement part is quality, you should have many years of a wobble-free HB.
