12.4V should be enough to start the car. so it has to be something else.

I'm not seeing where you have attempted to jump it with a known working battery (ideally in a car that starts/is running). That's where I would go next. Hook some jumper cables up and try and crank the car up. If it starts and runs, you still have some sort of battery or alternator issue. If it doesn't start, then it's a cabling issue with either your +, -, or both runs.

that the battery should read 12.7 or the car won't start, does this sound correct. Did I get a bad battery? What switch tells the car
that the clutch is depressed and has anyone ever had that switch go bad? Thank you for your reply.
No - the battery doesn't need to be at 12.7 Volts for the car to start !!!! A battery at 12.3 Volts will start the car just fine. If you were to look at battery voltage while the car is actually cranking - seeing voltage in the 11.5 volt range is quite common. I would put the danger point at around 10.5 volts while cranking.

The car determines the clutch is disengaged by a switch on the clutch pedal, and YES - that could easily be the culprit. You would need to go under the dash, get to the connector on the clutch switch, disconnect it and jump the contacts together to eliminate that possibility. And YES - it does happen. It could also be a weak fob battery - you might try putting the fob in the slot inside the glove box (the owners manual shows this location clearly) - it's not real likely - but it is quick and free to try.

I will try jumping the car, I will try the fob in the glove box trick and I will check the clutch switch. Fingers crossed.

Would the check engine light be on for a battery? Thanks for the reply.
You can pick up a cheap code reader for under $30. It's enough to at least give you some direction as to where to start looking.

Please explain how NOT parking it in reverse will cause a battery to be damaged? I would like a technical explanation.

I'm not sure of the exact reason but I believe when you put the car in reverse it turns off systems that would otherwise
stay on if you left it in another gear or neutral. The systems would drain the battery, it is in the owners manual.

Finally got to check my no start issue. After checking a few things like fuses and relays I jacked the car up and gave a few taps on the starter
with a hammer and sure enough it started. A new starter will be installed soon. I'm actually glad it is the starter, it is an easy fix
and I don't have to chase down any mysteries. Thanks for all the helpful replies.

05s required the car to be parked in reverse or it would drain the battery. It was supposed to be a "security feature". They gorked that one and took this away in 06+.

Since I installed a new starter and a start stop switch I still had a no start problem intermitently, 2 months since the problem started
I got around to checking, cleaning and tightening the grounds under the battery box. Hasn't happened since, like many have said, start with
the simple things first.
