How much breakaway torque from a cordless impact do I need for lugnuts? I bought 2 last year. Replaced 2 Dewalt impacts that were " rated" 220 lb removal torque. Either gun wasn't even close to cracking a 100 lb lug nut.
I read somewhere you need about 3x the torque of the gun you really need. I'm currently looking at 330 lb removal tq Dewalt. Would that remove the wheel lugs? Don't care about install use. Tired of dragging out the air tools.
I have a 21v 4a brushless impact rated at 300ftlbs and it can take a few seconds of whacking to loosen my 100ft lbs lugs. That DeWalt will be perfectly fine as long as you're also not using it to tighten the lugs and do those with a torque wrench.
I have no problem with my "Milwaukee M12 Fuel Stubby'.
Its really been a fantastic little gun with the added bonus of it being super compact enough to get in to tight places...like removing the rear caliper mounting bolts
So, i've added other Milwaukee tools at this point to share the batteries...like the small air compressor
