Gear Shift lever
I have a 2008 and "sometimes" I can't get the shift lever out of Park and into Drive--I make several attempts, and finally something "clicks" and I can get into Drive. Could this be a wiring harness? Is it a shifter assembly problem? Any suggestions on how to repair would be appreciated.

Very common with the aging C6 automatic shifter is the failure of the park interlock micro-switch. Literally 100's of posts on this subject. Repair documents attached. Some members do not want to replace the switch and just disable the park lock lever by either cutting it off or attaching a small cable to it and manually pulling it back. My buddy & I replaced the switch on his 2007 Base as a stock fix.

Thank you so much for your input on my C6 gear shift lever. Could you tell me approximately how much a Chevy dealership should charge to disconnect the interlock microswitch? They originally said my problem was with the wiring harness in the Shifter Assembly, and want to charge over $1,100 to correct. Your solution seems must more cost effective seeing as how I don't drive the car more than 5,000 miles each year.

A Chevy dealership will not replace just the micro-switch. They only replace larger parts, such as the entire shifter assembly, which is becoming extremely hard to find and most likely on indefinite backorder due to the age of the C6 and very expensive. Your best bet would be to contact your local Corvette club and ask them for a reference to an area Corvette specialty shop that would do such work. Maybe even a member might be willing to help with the replacement.
