Default Harmonic Balancer Going Bad

Suggestions for make and vendor for a new one? Local LS custom shop is recommending Dakor (sp?)

Any other advice would be appreciated!

Powerbond PB1117SS

The ATI is over kill unless you are running a super charger, And you do not just want the Oem or a copy of it where the outer pulley bonded to the inner pulley is the only thing holding the two together.

The PB1117SS has the standard bond ring like the oem, as well as an inner lip, with C clip on the outside that holds the two together too.

What is the best vendor for the Powerbond?

Thanks!

Ok, I found the PB1117SS. Summit appears to have a good price. What else do I need? I am sure I need the bolt (Chev Performance 12557840) and what about the engine front seal cover? GM Part number 296-02? Is there any advantage to paying 40 bucks for an ATI bolt or is the GM bolt for $8 ok?

Is there anything else? Whatever shop I choose might be able to get the parts, but I´m going ahead and ordering them anyway, in case supply is a problem.

Is there anything else I need or is there something there I don´t really need?

Get the ATI bolt, you can get the front seal done while they are in there if you want to skip the teardown later but it's not a common leak point.

You could also get the ARP bolt, they are very high quality

Sorry, I meant to say ARP.

Trying to find a shop that can get it done in a reasonable amount of time now.

Summit Racing is 30 bucks cheaper than Amazon. Are they pretty good? At least with Amazon if there´s an issue with a part returns are very easy. But I suspect Summit would have a lower chance of sending me a part with a problem.

Summit racing and Jeggs are both top notch companies. I've had issues with knock off parts from Amazon.

I found a reputable shop that has all the parts and will get it done next week! They are also changing belts and doing an alignment all for $1500 including parts and labor. They'll use the PB SS balancer. I'm pretty happy Ill have the car for my vacation time.

Ordered a lot from Summit never once had an issue unless it was a special order part. If I order early one day it gets to me the day after next (2days) of course I’m in Texas

Autozone also carry power bond. I had a xx % off coupon and got a good price on mine.

the factory bolt is plenty fine. I’ve never heard of any issues with them

don't forget there is a super thin diamond washer behind the stock balancer. You don’t NEED it but might as well reuse it.

while they’re at it you can also replace the steering rack bushing. Upgrade to a drm bushing if you’d like.

Thanks! Do you have a link to that DRM bushing? What´s the advantage to the upgrade? And does it add much in the way of hours and cost?

You can get a new one, a delrin or poly, or a metal one. Don’t need one if yours is fine. Some said they noticed a big difference when they went stiffer. I didn’t but I rarely am on the street with it.

it’s not bad if the steering rack is out or easily accessible which yours could be if you’re doing the harmonic balancer

I just started digging into this on my 2008.
I was wondering if this power steering line available separately?
It looks like it's weeping, but I could only find the whole cooler assembly.
It looks like there's also a leak on the pan, but I suspect that it's coming from the sensor.

My local vette shop told me this about Summit the other day. I always heard everyone throw out ATI on the board here but he told me for something that isnt a huge HP build Summit is solid.

What are the symptoms? Shop recently pointed out to me that mine is starting to get a slight wobble.
