blower motor
Hi.
blower motor for AC not working anymore. fuse seems ok. anything else i should check before i buy a new one? 2012 GS coupe. TIA

Why are you going to buy a new one before testing the old one ???…could be the module, a bad connection or the wiring…could also be the HVAC module itself…wiring below is for a 13 but should be the same as yours.

I assume to do a proper bench test you would need a PWM signal generator for the speed control?

As long as you have either an advanced DVOM that can read PWM in milliseconds or a scope it can be done without removing the motor...below pic is scope capture of a C5 I did a while back also with a PWM signal...power (blue), ground (red) and the PWM signal (green) were all checked.

would simply applying a 12 volt source to the motor to see if it spins be proper to do? i have the motor out and did this and nothing. thanks

If you applied 12 volts and a ground and the motor doesn’t work you’ll need a new one.

ok, thanks. is the resistor built into these newer model motors? i could not find a replacement one

I looked at a 2013 and the blower “module” or resistor is part of the blower motor assembly…yours should be the same.

got it fixed! bought a new AC delco unit from rockauto and all good now. thanks to everyone for the help.
