I have a 2009 without the factory nav system. How involved is it to install a factory system?

Replace the head unit and get it married to the car with a Tech 2 or similar and add an antenna and that's about it.

Any thoughts on the best place to source an OEM nav unit?

The "Parts for Sale" section of the forum.I see them for $50-$75.Just be aware that the last map update was 2016 and there isn't anything newer.

Close, but need to add in the factory mic on the left a column for voice and phone call use. Since your car is a 2009, already has blue tooth in the Vcim, to blue tooth in your phone calls to the radio (but phone calls alone are the only thing that with that blue tooth system. If your car has Bose on the doors speaker grills, all the factory wiring is in place, while is you don't have Bose on the doors grills, then will need to wire in the VSS connector that the Nav unit will need.

As for actually going to oem Nav unit, the OEM system is so old in it features itself and what is can and can not do (thing designed in 2004), plus the last Nav update map is from 2015, released in 2016, its so outdated, that is not funny.

So, much better off with after market nav unit that you can get current maps for, and its feature are night and day leaps ahead as well.

Dano, thanks for that info. I know there are some good aftermarket units out there, just liked the OEM look and Corvette home screen.

Take the money you would put into retrofitting an obsolete unit and put it into a good aftermarket unit. Then find and add a "Corvette" startup screen to it.

I gave mine away for FREE, and like many others, updated to a modern head unit (and I never even listen to music in this car...just LS7).
Lightyears ahead with cameras, carplay, etc, etc
the sole downside was a bit of glare in certain conditions but that was easily resolved with an anti-glare screen.

The factory nav....well, it kinda sucks, IMO. I have an Alpine head unit with an awesome Nav and support for front and rear cameras. I REALLY enjoy having the cameras...especially the front one when parking (carbon fiber splitters are expensive!)

Hands down, go aftermarket...You won't regret it.

It amazes me that the updates are dead. I guess I understand since phones have navigation. I rarely use the NAV on my 2005 C6 but I did do an upgrade so that the Sirius XM Satellite radio allows me to use Bluetooth which can broadcast the phone app map navigation guidance.

I added the BT45-Vette system.

INE-W987HD I really don't know that much about it. I'm not at all up on all the latest but it was what was prescribed to me when Vengeance Racing did my build. The cameras are very nice and work well. The rear camera turns on anytime I'm in reverse. The bluetooth phone connection works well too. It has way more in depth audio functions than I will ever use.
